If you’ve been reading the industry news, you may have seen that IBM and HCL Technologies announced a definitive agreement under which HCL has acquired select IBM collaboration, commerce, digital experience, AppScan, and BigFix solutions. The divestiture was completed on June 30, 2019 and included IBM Notes/Domino products.

As a result, IBM is no longer selling or supporting the Notes or Domino products. As we understand it, HCL Software has taken over all support for Notes and Domino from IBM. Open IBM support tickets, in process, have been transferred to HCL Software support. IBM is still making some documentation available on its website.

The acquisition of these products has been in the works for some time. Through their partnership with IBM, HCL had taken over development for the new Domino 10 product for the past two years, which we found very promising. HCL seems to have picked up the ball and moved it forward. The new Domino product features improved performance, mobile app capabilities, better integration through REST API, CentOS support, and better cloud support and security.

It remains to be seen what HCL will charge its new customers. We have applied to the HCL Business Partner program and hope to gather more information soon. HCL has stated that they “plan to continue leveraging partnerships for Partner expertise.” However, we are continuing our work toward moving intertrac to a new platform. Until we get there, current intertrac customers can benefit from these advancements and further leverage their investments in Domino.
